We be jammin’! You have been asking for it, so here it is! We have beautiful produce right here in the Midwest, but unfortunately we only have it for a short time. We’ll show you the techniques to preserve your food so that you can have bright summer flavor even in the cold depths of winter. In this workshop, we will be making some familiar and some not-so-familiar jams, jellies, and marmalades. We will show you how to use a canning pot so you can hear those encouraging “pops” from mason jars filled with your hard work and tasty goodies! Strawberry-fire roasted jalapeno jelly with Jalapeno Poppers, Mango-habanero Jelly on Chicken, Cinnamon Apple Butter, Strawberry Preserves, Peach Preserves on biscuits, Zucchini Relish for Tartar with White Fish, and Orange Marmalade Stir Fry are among the recipes, plus so much more! Jams and Jellies – not just for breakfast and bread! Don’t miss this class that revives the lost art and skill of canning with a fun and modern unique twist!
Please wear closed-toed shoes. Bring your favorite knife and a beverage to drink if you wish. We will provide you with knives if you do not have them. We will also provide aprons. We will have bottled water to drink. You may bring adult beverages if you wish. Class ending times may vary- some folks are speedy in the kitchen!
